WinCC V7 enhancement simplifies scheduling

Human machine interfaces continue to expand their capabilities, providing a single source for all the information operators need to run their equipment efficiently. The Simatic WinCC V7 enhances conventional HMI functions with a calendar-based user interface.

The Simatic WinCC Calendar Scheduler option lets operators utilize both a calendar as well as editors for configuring and managing events and associated actions. The Calendar Scheduler is available in Microsoft Office format for simple and easy scheduling so most operators will begin seeing benefits without any training required. It also lets users set up direct connections in WinCC for the planned events and actions as well as implement global scripts.

The new software can be used to plan events and actions for controlling plant processes as well as scheduling maintenance times. Several calendars, events and associated actions can be created, filtered, processed and managed using a variety of tools that are included.

Events can be customized and linked to specific tasks using an actions editor. For example, the user can connect calendar data with a custom predictive maintenance criteria using the actions editor scripting language. The editor can also support exceptions, such as suspending otherwise regularly occurring events as required for holidays or for changes in a shift schedule.

The calendar can be set up for different languages using a language setting editor. Variable fields like action names can be assigned multi-language designations.

Unauthorized access can be prevented by using a hierarchical user rights system. The Calendar Scheduler ensures a high level of process data transparency within the plant. All scheduling activities are simultaneously prioritized and displayed in the alarm logging system.
