Range of data can help companies cut consumption, improve productivity.

The trend towards green buildings and the likelihood of lower utility bills are strong incentives for plant managers to look at their energy consumption. But many companies have found it difficult to analyze their energy usage.

The SENTRON PAC meter family simplifies this job, providing important information needed to assess system states and the power quality. It also provides versatility, measuring power values for electrical systems or individual loads as well as converting consumption of resources like water or gas.

The meters can analyze energy consumption per shift, day, week or even by batch, making it easy to create an action plan that will drive the cost spent per product. They are equipped with output capabilities as well that can be used with alarming functions to initiate energy controls or demand responses automatically based on customizable values. A Modbus communication interface is standard, and a Profibus link can also be added.

The meter family also monitors the state of power distribution systems, providing information that will help prevent overload conditions which might lead to a power system failure. Power quality information like harmonic content or power factor can be used to establish steps to avoid damage to sensitive equipment and avoid utility charges.

The collected energy consumption data can also be used to support LEED certifications and provide the needed energy metering data for federal/local government EPACT 2005 energy reduction programs. The automotive industry can also use the data to obtain Energy Star certification for their facilities.
