Conformal version helps reduce costs.
Harsh environments require products that have been ruggedized to survive under extreme conditions. The Siemens SIPLUS Extreme line can survive in severe conditions, providing high reliability at low costs. SIPLUS Extreme products are standard Siemens product enhanced with additional protection against extended temperature ranges and aggressive atmospheres.
The latest upgrade of the line employs conformal coating to S7-1200 controllers and I/O products, which protects the units when exposed to atmospheres such as moisture, corrosive vapors, salts or dust.. These enhancements enable the products to operate under conditions of condensation and corrosion without expensive modifications to the electrical enclosure. The refined S7-1200 SIPLUS operate at temperatures from -25 to 55 degrees C.
Another version of the line extends that range, operating at temperatures up to 70 degrees C. These highly ruggedized versions include a built-in heat sink, so they require slightly more cabinet space for ample air circulation, and some I/Os must be idled when temperatures rise above 60 degrees C. These extended temperature modules are also conformal coated and designed to handle condensation, increased humidity or extraordinary medial loads such as corrosive gases, humidity, and salts.
SIPLUS Extreme products are a great fit for harsh environment applications in Pulp and Paper, Transportation, Oil & Gas, Water & Wastewater, Chemicals, Metals & Mining.
