Siemens Extends Power Supply Offering

Siemens Industry has expanded its power supply offering with new additions to the SITOP product family.

The SITOP PSU100C controlled power supplies for the low-end performance range offer a number of new benefits including increased efficiency and an extremely slim-line design that makes them ideal for distributed applications because they can be installed in small control boxes or control cabinets on the shop floor.

“No matter what industry we are talking about, whether it is a utility generating power for a community, a continuous process environment like you see in the oil and gas and chemical industries, or a discrete manufacturing space like an automobile factory, all industrial operations have a common requirement for a reliable, safe supply of power,” says Kai Bronzel, Siemens spokesperson. “The SITOP PSU100C helps Siemens make sure customers have that.”

The SIPTOP PSU100C comes in two models – 12 V DC and 24 V DC – with widths of just 22.5 or 30 mm respectively. “This means they require only two thirds of the space on the mounting rail as comparable devices. On one hand this frees up valuable real estate, and on another it means you can put the power supply in places where you previously couldn’t, enabling more distribution on the shop floor.”

“The new devices are also extremely efficient across the entire load range,” adds Bronzel. “Industrial power supplies are not usually in use constantly for 24 hours a day over the entire year. It is very common to switch individual loads or plant sections to a type of ‘standby operation’ during non-productive periods or holidays. This saves a significant amount of energy. The SITOP PSU100C supports this with especially low no-load losses and thus provides energy savings of up to 53 %.”

The benefits at a glance

  • Low energy consumption due to high efficiency across the whole load range and minimum losses in no-load operation (standby)
  • Space-saving due to slim-line design, therefore especially suited for control boxes, control panels and wall mount housings
  • Wide input voltage range 85 to 264 V AC for 120 V and 230 V AC single-phase networks without changeover
  • Operation on 110 to 300 V DC networks
  • Operating temperature range –20 to 70 °C
  • Time- and cost-saving by means of user-friendly, effective connection with plug-in terminals
  • Worldwide use due to wide input voltage range 85 – 265 V AC for connection to single-phase networks  120 V and 230 V AC without switch-over
  • Gain in reliability with ability of DC voltage supply in the range of 110 – 300 V DC
  • Adjustable output voltage for compensation of voltage drops (not with 24 V/0.6 A version)
