New ‘SIRIUS Innovations’ Products are Efficient, Flexible and Connected
With the SIRIUS Innovations line of power control products, Siemens Industry, Inc. has introduced the next generation of its SIRIUS Modular System.
In addition to improving on the previous system with sustainable elements that reduce power consumption, make more efficient use of space and simplify assembly, SIRIUS Innovations breaks new ground with the inclusion of IO-Link communication modules that reduce control wiring and quickly snap onto motor starters up to 30 horsepower. The IO-Link modules also allow status and diagnostic data communication to the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) platform. The new products feature increased power performance up to 40 A in a reduced 45 mm footprint while AS-Interface communication modules for motor starters have also been added to the product range.
“SIRIUS Innovations is a feature-rich new series that offers benefits to panel builders and end users alike,” says Raj Batra, president of Siemens Industry Automation Division. “With the introduction of this new line, Siemens is setting a new standard in terms of capability and reliability while helping customers stay flexible in design, efficient in their processes and connected to critical information.”
“The new product line-up also adds ring-lug terminal variants, expanding termination options,” adds Brian Libby, product manager, Siemens SIRIUS Power Control . “The ring-lug terminals will allow us to access new markets, like the Semiconductor space, where there is a standard requirement to use ring-lug terminals.”
Benefits of SIRIUS Innovations:
- Increased performance in a reduced compact design
- Time and installation savings with “snap and go” components
- Reduced energy consumption
- Highly versatile modular design
- Approved and installed worldwide
- Communication capable components
- Data transparency and diagnostics
These new products are just one part of an ongoing process of innovation involving the SIRIUS Modular System. At the SPS/IPC/Drives show in Nuremberg, Germany at the end of November, the company announced extensive improvements throughout the line. For example, the low voltage control products are now available for switching, starting, protecting and monitoring plants and motors, with smaller designs that increase efficiency in control cabinet construction.
“These innovations mean end users – especially control cabinet assemblers – get improved efficiency, improved space allocations and improved performance for their investment,” says Libby.
