There are many challenging conditions to be faced in the workplace. The food and beverage industry, for example, often uses high-pressure washers. Equipment in such areas must be rated for IP69/ IP69K protection. Similarly, the pharmaceutical industry must uphold the highest standards of cleanliness. Hence computers, HMIs and other devices must be resistant to disinfectants. In some cases, cleanroom compatibility is a requirement. And equipment in hazardous areas must function in accordance with IECEx, ATEX Zone 2/22, UL Class I, Div. 2
That’s why Siemens has released a series of HMI devices with a glass front and a high degree of protection (IP69K). They meet the challenging requirements arising in the food and pharmaceutical industries. This extends the range of panels and panel PCs with a stainless-steel front for hygienic areas to the following products:
- SIMATIC HMI TP900 Comfort INOX PCT (PCT – Projected Capacitive Touch)
- SIMATIC HMI TP1200 Comfort INOX PCT
- SIMATIC IFP2200 INOX MT ETH (ETH – Ethernet)
These new devices are delivered with CE conformity, with further tests and certifications ongoing to meet the most stringent industry standards for challenging conditions and operating environments. This includes country-specific approvals (such as UL and cULus), DGUV certification for food processing, approval for clean rooms, and hazardous area approvals (IECEx, ATEX Zone 2/22, UL Class 1, Div. 2).
The food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries will benefit from a range of new products featuring a glass front with a capacitive touch sensor. This design allows for single-touch operation of Comfort Panels and multi-finger operation of IFP2200 INOX MT ETH.
Operators are afforded a high degree of protection, glass with a high breaking strength via single-pane safety glass, shock-resistance according to EN62262 IK08, and the best in scratch and chemical resistance. These devices are compatible with standard Siemens SIMATIC devices. All devices come with an additional clamping frame to evenly distribute the contact pressure of the seal even with a thinner control cabinet wall thickness starting at 1.5 mm. These Comfort Panels can also be configured as of TIA Portal V15.
