S7-1500 upgrades offer faster real time operations
The SIMATIC S7-1500 PC-based Software Controller CPU 1507S (F) implements the function of an S7-1500 controller as software on a PC with Windows which enables a PC to be used for controlling machines or plants. The configuring and programming of the CPU 1507S (F) is handled with the STEP 7 engineering tool in the TIA Portal like all S7-1500 controllers. This PC-Based controller’s Standard and Safety rated variants have now been upgraded to V2.5. This version supports Window 10, improved open communications and additional C++ libraries capabilities.
The integrated OPC UA server provides Open User Communication along with other improved functionality. Users can now load projects via PC System Configuration files, even for fail-safe CPUs, and new Get/Status functions are added for simplified monitoring of real time operating status. Version V2.5 via the SIMATIC CP 1625 provides higher performance control, with 500 µs isochronous operation of external devices for up to 64 nodes of 256, on PROFINET. It can handle 4800 motion control resources, which corresponds to 60 positioning axes of motion control.
With the Open Developers Kit SIMATIC ODK 1500S, it’s now simpler to develop reusable executable function libraries for the S7 controller under Windows with C# or Visual Basic. Once created in the high-level language, the C++ functions are utilized from the libraries of TIA Portal and are included in the PLC logic. The S7-1500 Software Controller CPU 1507S (F) executes these C/C++ functions asynchronous or synchronous in the PLC runtime. With the addition of the Target 1500S for Simulink, function libraries can be developed from automation modeling tools greatly improving the efficiency for the software development. The new system also includes a “Variant” data type for input and output parameters that simplifies development of reusable code in the CPU function libraries.
The fail-safe variant CPU 1507S F performs Safety Integrated (fail-safe) certified Emergency Stop directly from the PC up to SIL3 and PLe protection level.
