Six controllers upgraded with displays
The displays of the narrow (35mm) SIMATIC S7-1500 CPUs have been upgraded to integrate the display into the base module and remove it from the door. The six CPUs with the new article numbers are spare-part-compatible with their predecessors (exchange of SIMATIC memory card). The new modules are functionally compatible with their predecessor. The new controllers will ship with the latest firmware version.
These SIMATIC controllers S7-1511(F), S7-1513(F) and the compact controllers S7-1511C and S7-1512C have been given new article numbers. These CPUs are now released for delivery with the new mechanical design. The remaining CPUs are planned to be modified to the new screen design in the future.
When replacing a CPU (e.g. 6ES7511-1FK01-0AB) with a compatible successor type (e.g. 6ES7511-1FK02-0AB0), the TIA Portal project does not need to be changed; upgrade of the TIA Portal project is not required.
Configuration with older software versions is simple. The modules with the new article numbers can still be configured in the TIA Portal as a previous version article number to avoid changing the TIA Portal project (e.g. 6ES7511-1AK01-0AB0).
