SIMATIC ET 200SP Double BaseUnits reduce costs, lower inventory levels, and speed setup of an ET 200SP station. Previously, OEMs using the SIMATIC ET 200SP modular distributed I/O system had to buy one base module for every I/O module. If they were building a machine with 200 I/O modules, they had to buy 200 base modules. SIMATIC ET 200SP Double BaseUnits are designed to address that pain point. With SIMATIC ET 200SP Double BaseUnits, that same OEM would only need 100 double base units to mount those 200 I/O modules. They can build the same machine at a lower cost and with fewer components, which also reduces complexity while speeding installation and commissioning.
BaseUnits can be divided into two categories: light BaseUnits, which supply voltage, and dark BaseUnits, which do not. Each light BaseUnit can support one or more dark BaseUnits and their I/O modules, to the power limit of the source. Each Double BaseUnit can support up to two I/O modules. The ET 200SP Double BaseUnit product family includes a light-dark Double BaseUnit and a dark-dark Double BaseUnit (see figure). The modular I/O system can be tailored to the application by combining these Double BaseUnits with additional I/O modules and single base units to fulfill the I/O needs of the machine or production line.Have an Inquiry for Siemens about this article?
